Suzasnne Murray, Youth Director

March and April were busy months for our youth. March 15, we held our annual Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction. About 75 people were treated to a delicious spaghetti meal made by Chef Bob Raymer. After that, they had the opportunity to bid on many gift certificates and items in our silent auction. The youth raised over $2000 from this event, and we thank you all for your support! Many, many thanks to Chef Bob, to Diane Kloorfain for all of her kitchen help, and to Katie Douglas, who worked tirelessly for months on this event. Thank you to Kim Heaton for all of the dessert help, and Mark Conrad for washing endless dishes!

On March 20-21, six of our youth participated in World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine. The youth got individuals to sponsor them as they fasted for 30 hours, and the money raised was given to World Vision to help feed hungry children. During the fast, we camped out at New Hope Fellowship in Palm City, joining over 200 other Martin county youth. At the event, we learned many facts about hunger and poverty, and were inspired by dynamic speakers and a praise and worship band. It was a very meaningful event. During the entire month of March, our youth group messages all related to hunger and poverty, motivating our participation in this event and inspiring us to strive to make a difference.

April 5, eight of our youth served as ushers/greeters for both services, as well as handed out palm crosses to commemorate Palm Sunday. Easter Sunday, our children had their own Easter message during the 11:00 service, followed by an Easter egg hunt with our youth. A second youth retreat to Lake Placid is planned for April 24-26, and will be reported on in next month’s issue.

Thanks to all for supporting our children and youth!......... Suzanne Murray
